Private Edwin P Davis

Edwin Phillip Davis, son of Edwin and Florence Davis, of Camp Hill, Birmingham, enlisted into the South Staffordshire Regiment and volunteered for Airborne forces.

Private Davis successfully completed his glider training and was posted to 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Pte Davis was killed in action on 19 September 1944, aged 19, and was given a field burial in the grounds of St Elisabeth Hospital at Arnhem. He was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 24 August 1945.
