Lance Corporal Edward A Timpson

Edward Alexander Timpson was the son of William and Rosina Timpson, of Catford, London. He enlisted in the Royal Artillery and volunteered for airborne forces.

Lance Corporal Timpson successfully completed his glider training and was posted to C Company, 7th (Airborne) Battalion, King’s Own Scottish Borderers and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

L/Cpl Timpson was killed in action on 21 September 1944, aged 25, and was given a field burial in a mass grave of fourteen near the junction of Bothaweg and Oranjeweg, Oosterbeek. He was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 28 August 1945.
