Lance Corporal Edward T Tyler

24 Mar 1945

Edward Thomas Tyler was the son of James William and Grace D Tyler, of Wanstead, Essex, he enlisted in the General Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.

Lance Corporal Tyler successfully completed glider training and was posted to 12th (Airborne) Battalion, Devonshire Regiment and took part in Operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).

L/Cpl Tyler was killed in action on 24 March 1945, aged 19, and was given a field burial at Hamminkeln, Germany, and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Germany on 17 April 1947.
