Eddie was Born In Glasgow on 14 November 1941, he enlisted into the Army in 1958 and completed recruit training at the Guards Depot Caterham, he was posted to 1st Battalion Scots Guards, he completed P Company in 1961 aged 19 (with Great Intestinal Fortitude) and on completion of 8 Jumps became a trained Paratrooper. A point to note he also did a further Pegasus Company refresher course in 1966 aged 24 

Eddie was the Orderly for the Brigade Major of 16 Parachute Brigade  Sir Gregor MacGregor Of MacGregor Scots Guards 1961 to 1963 Who then went on to Command 1SG in Borneo.

He rejoined 11 Platoon Left Flank 1st Battalion Scots Guards in 1964 and served Operationally on active service in Borneo and Malaysia.

Eddie completed 9 years exemplary service with 1st Battalion Scots Guards and 16 Parachute Brigade The Parachute Regiment.

On leaving the Army in 1967 he  joined the Glasgow Police Force he left after serving as a Police Officer, he  then Joined Glasgow Transport Service and the Metro Underground.

Eddie’s Funeral took place on 7 August at in St Benedict Chapel, St Benedict Church, Glasgow.
