Lance Corporal Edward P Hunt

Edward Piers Hunt was the son of Albert Edward Thomas and Celia Hunt, of Besford, Worcestershire. He enlisted into the South Staffordshire Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.

Lance Corporal Hunt successfully completed his glider training and was posted to D Company, 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

L/Cpl Hunt was killed in action on 18 September 1944, aged 19, and was given a field burial in an isolated grave by the railway embankment at Oosterbeek and was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 29 November 1945.
