Edward James Walter Tipper enlisted into The Royal Sussex Regiment before volunteering for airborne forces.
He undertook parachute training course 140, which ran at RAF Ringway from 30 October to 14 November 1944.
Pte 'Ted' Tipper was posted to the 12th (Yorkshire) Parachute Battalion after qualifying as a military parachutist.
He saw active service in Europe, the Far East and Palestine, and was demobbed in June 1947.
