Private Edward H Huxley

21 Sep 1909 - 02 Apr 1945

Edward Horace Huxley was the son of James and Ann (Cryne) Huxley, of Manchester; husband of Louisa (Osborne) Huxley. Married December 1931. He enlisted in the Manchester Regiment and volunteered for Airborne Forces.

Private Huxley successfully completed glider training and was posted to 12th (Airborne) Battalion, Devonshire Regiment, and took part in Operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).

Pte Huxley was killed in action on 2 April 1945, aged 35, and was given a field burial at Lengerich, Germany, and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery on 28 April 1947.
