Driver Douglas William Stanley Coates served with 716 (Airborne) Light Composite Company RASC and took part in the D-Day landings to Normandy on 5-6 June 1944.
Dvr Coatess died on 8 June 1944, aged 20 years old. He is now buried at Herouvillette New Communal Cemetery, Herouvillette, near Caen, Normandy.
