Signalman Douglas Milne

Douglas Milne was the son of James and Bella Milne, of Rosemount, Aberdeen; husband of Rose Milne, of West Hartlepool, County Durham. He enlisted in the Royal Corps of Signals and volunteered for Airborne Forces.

Signalman Milne successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway and also completed glider training. He was posted to J Section, 6th Airborne Divisional Signals, Royal Corps of Signals, and took part in Operation Overlord (D Day landings).

Sgmn Milne was killed in action on 6 June 1944, aged 22, and is commemorated on the Bayeux Memorial to the missing.
