Driver Douglas H Hill

Douglas Henry Hill was the son of Francis and Ellen Mary Hill, of Hereford, he enlisted into the General Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.

Driver Hill successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway on course number 106, from 6 to 16 March 1944. His course report stated “Average performer – confident and willing”. He was posted to 6th Airborne Divisional Signals (3 Parachute Brigade) Royal Corps of Signals, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).

Dvr Hill was killed in action on 25 June 1944, aged 20, and was buried in Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France.
