Corporal Douglas H Brodrick

Douglas Herbert Brodrick was the son of Herbert and Emma E Brodrick, of Bradford, Yorkshire; husband of M Brodrick, he enlisted in the West Yorkshire Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.

Corporal Brodrick successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway on course number 102, from 7 to 18 February 1944. His course report stated “Cheerful, confident, good jumper”. He was posted to 6th Airborne Divisional Provost Company, Corps of Military Police, and took part in operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).

Cpl Brodrick was killed in action on 24 March 1945, aged 34, and was given a field burial at Hamminkeln and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery on 13 December 1946.
