Sergeant Donald C Wilton

Donald Claude Wilton was the son of Victor and Ella Wilton, of Bath. He enlisted in the Somerset Light Infantry and volunteered for airborne forces.

Sergeant Wilton successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway and also Glider Pilot training and was posted to A Squadron, The Glider Pilot Regiment, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Sgt Wilton was killed in action between 25 and 27 September 1944, aged 25. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial to the Missing.
