Trooper Dominic McBride

Dominic McBride was the son of John and Mary McBride, of Letterkenny, County Donegal, Irish Republic, he enlisted in the General Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.

Trooper McBride successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway, on course number 99 from 19 January to 3 February 1944. His course report stated “Good worker, confident, average parachutist”. He was posted to 1st Special Air Service Regiment, Army Air Corps.

Tpr McBride was killed in action on 18 June 1944, aged 25, and is commemorated on the Bayeux Memorial to the missing.
