I was with Derek at the time of the crash. We were both from Wembley and both completed P Coy together, travelling in to the Duke of York's on the Tube.

After two weeks in Germany, at Endex Derek was really looking forward to getting home to his wife and young daughter, he had missed them a lot, it was on the drive back that the crash happened.

We were all devastated about Derek, and the other guys injured.

When I got back to London, my Father came to collect me and Derek from the Duke of York's to give us a lift home, but he only collected me.

I met with his family shortly after.

Still remembered mate - small but tough - and always bloody cheerful!

Cheers,

Pat
