Driver Derek A Allen

Derek Arthur Allen was the son of Alfred George and Elizabeth Emma (Rockey) Allen, of Hampton Hill, Middlesex, he enlisted in The Royal Army Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.

Driver Allen successfully completed glider training and was posted to 716 (Airborne) Light Composite Company, Royal Army Service Corps and took part in operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).

Dvr Allen was killed in action on 24 March 1945, aged 19, and was given a field burial near Hamminkeln and was re-interred to Reichswald War Cemetery on 13 December 1946.
