Private Dennis W Collis

Dennis Walter Collis was the son of Harold Clifton and Mary Jane Collis, of Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, he enlisted in the General Service Corps, and volunteered for airborne forces.

Private Collis successfully completed glider training and was posted to 12th (Airborne) Battalion, Devonshire Regiment and took part in Operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).

Pte Collis was killed in action on 24 March 1945, aged 20, and was given a field burial at Hamminkeln and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery on 24 April 1947.
