Private David J Little

David John Little was the son of Janet Little, of Kirkpatrick Fleming, Dumfrieshire. He enlisted in the Royal Corps of Signals and volunteered for airborne forces.

Private Smith successfully completed his glider training, and was posted to D Company, 7th (Airborne) Battalion, King’s Own Scottish Borderers and took part in operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Pte Little died from diphtheria in the Eilenburg POW Hospital in Stalag XIIA, aged 27, and was given a field burial in the Eilenburg Central Cemetery and was reinterred to Berlin 1939-1945 War Cemetery on 29 September 1947.
