Private David Downes from Macclesfield served with MT Platoon, 3 PARA.
He died, aged 21 years old, in a barrack room fire in the early hours of the morning of 18 June 1977 in Berlin.
Pte Downes’ funeral took place in Aldershot on 24 June 1977.
