Staff Sergeant David B Wallace M.M.

David Bruce Wallace M.M. was the son of David Lindsay and Sarah Wallace, of Eastbourne, Sussex. He enlisted in the Royal Artillery and volunteered for airborne forces.

Staff Sergeant Wallace successfully completed his glider pilot training and was posted to F Squadron, 15 Flight, 2nd Wing, The Glider Pilot Regiment, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

S/Sgt Wallace was killed in action on 24 September 1944, aged 24, and was given a field burial in an isolated grave by the Hotel Sonnenberg, Oosterbeek. He was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 17 October 1945.
