David Allmond served in the ranks with the Royal Artillery from 20 August 1959 to 7 October 1981 and reached the rank of Warrant Officer Class I.
He was commissioned on 8 October 1981 and eventually retired from the Army on 22 May 1993 with the rank of Major.
