Private Darren John Bull served with 1 PARA.

Ptes Darren Bull and Gregg Sandall were killed when their hire car overturned as they drove towards Los Angeles on R&R. Their funerals took place at home and a Memorial Service was subsequently held in Aldershot.

OBITUARY - PRIVATE DARREN JOHN BULL

'John' Bull joined Depot PARA in November 87. He passed out with 535 P1 in June 88 and was posted to 1 PARA. He served, initially with the Mortar PI for a roulement tour in N Ireland before being posted to C Coy in January 89. With 7 PI he was a popular and highly professional soldier. He deployed to California with the Battalion for Ex CALTROP FORCE and dug his trenches and fired his lazers with his customary determination and sense of humour. He was at his best when circumstances were at their worst. He was a talented boxer and was the Battalion light heavyweight champion in the Novices Boxing Competition in December 88. He was tragically killed in a car accident on Highway 1 in California on 9 April 89 aged 23. He will be sadly missed as a friend and a boxer. He was a true 'mate'. Sincere condolences from all at 1 PARA to his family.

I knew him very briefly, he was amateur heavy weight boxer so after South Armargh 88 he eaisly beat his oponent large bloke from one of the rifle Coy, i heard he got killed in US xar accident Caltrope force in R%R
