Sergeant Charles T Brackstone

Sergeant Charles Thomas Brackstone was the son of Rupert and Lily Ada Lydia Brackstone, and the husband of Winifred Ethne Brackstone, of Dundonald, Co Down, Northern Ireland. He served with C Squadron, 6 Flight, of 2nd Wing Glider Pilot Regiment.

Sergeant Brackstone took part in the First Lift of the glider insertion to Arnhem, during Op Market Garden on 17 September 1944. He was killed when his Hamilcar glider crashed on the Landing Zone.

Sergeant Brackstone died on 17 September 1944, aged 23 years old. He is now buried at Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Arnhem.
