Staff Sergeant Charles H Humphreys

Charles Henry Humphreys was born and lived in London, he enlisted into the Dorsetshire Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.

Staff Sergeant Humphreys successfully completed his glider pilot training and was posted to E Squadron, 2nd Wing, Glider Pilot Regiment, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

S/Sgt Humphreys was killed in action on 18 September 1944, aged 29, and was given a field burial in an isolated group of graves in an open field at Renkum beside Klein Amerikaweg and was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 31 October 1945.
