Lance Corporal Charles F T Jessep

24 Mar 1945

Charles Francis Thomas Jessep was the son of Walter and Olive Jessep, of Plymouth; husband of Mary Edith Jessep, of Crownhill, Plymouth, he enlisted in The Devonshire Regiment, and volunteered for airborne forces.

Lance Corporal Jessep successfully completed glider training and was posted to 12th (Airborne) Battalion, Devonshire Regiment, and took part in operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).

L/Cpl Jessep was killed in action on 24 March 1945, age 27, and was given a field burial at Hamminkeln, Germany, and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Germany on 10 April 1947.
