Private Charles C Anderson

Charles Clarence Anderson, son of George and Mary Anderson, of Worksop, Nottinghamshire, enlisted in the North Staffordshire Regiment and then volunteered for airborne forces.

Private Anderson successfully completed his Glider training and was posted to 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Pte Anderson was killed in action on 20 September 1944, aged 28, and was given a field burial. He was reinterred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 1 February 1946.
