Cecil Henry Johncock was the son of Henry Cecil and Annie Elizabeth (Ellins) Johncock, of Minchinhampton, Gloucestershire, he enlisted in The Wiltshire Regiment, and volunteered for airborne forces.
Rifleman Johncock successfully completed glider training and was posted to 1st (Airborne) Battalion, Royal Ulster Rifles, and took part in operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).
Rfn Johncock was killed in action on 4 April 1945, age 23, and was given a field burial at Wissingen, Germany, and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Germany on 17 May 1947.
