Lieutenant Barrie M Brewer

Barrie Morton Brewer was the son of Thomas Dobson and Lilian Morton Brewer, of Paddington, London. He was commissioned in the Duke of Wellington’s (West Riding Regiment) and volunteered for airborne forces.

Lieutenant Brewer successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway on course number 104 which lasted from 21 February to 2 March 1944. He was attached to the Ox and Bucks Light Infantry, Army Air Corps, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).

Lt Brewer was killed in action on 12 June 1944, aged 23, and was given a field burial at Breville, France. He was re-interred to Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France on 5 July 1945.
