Sergeant Austin R Scott

Austin Rolfe Scott was the son of John William and Sarah Scott, of Sunderland, County Durham; husband of Ena Eveline Scott, of Pill, Somerset and father of Victoria Scott. He enlisted in the Royal Amoured Corps, and volunteered for airborne forces.

Sergeant Scott successfully completed his parachute training at RAF Ringway on course number 75, from 26 July to 8 August 1943. His course report stated “Good NCO, worked hard, jumped well”. He was posted to 6th (Airborne) Divisional Provost Company, Corps of Military Police, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).

Sgt Scott was killed in action on 8 June 1944, aged 30, and was buried in Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France.
