Gunner Aubrey Pitt

Aubrey Pitt was the son of William and Rachel Pitt, of Glamorgan. He enlisted into the Royal Army Medical Corps, and volunteered for airborne forces.

Gunner Pitt successfully completed his glider training and was posted to 1 Airlanding Light Regiment, Royal Artillery, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Gnr Pitt was killed in action on 19 September 1944, aged 24, and was given a field burial in the garden of the Ter Horst family, Benedendorpsweg, Oosterbeek, and was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 8 August 1945.
