Private Arthur T Cowley

Private Arthur Thomas Cowley was the son of John Thomas and Mary Cowley, and husband of Violet Ellen Cowley, of Croydon, Surrey. He served with HQ 1st Parachute Battalion and took part in the North African campaign, during Op Torch.

Pte Cowley was Batman to Miles Whitelock and was probably killed in the same incident that critically injured Miles during the Battle of Gue Hill fought by 1st Battalion, near Medjez-el-Bab.

Private Cowley died on 24 November 1942, aged 22 years old. He is now buried at Medjez-el-Bab War Cemetery, Tunisia.
