Private Arthur Platt

Private Arthur Platt, was the son of Mr and Mrs H Platt, of Amersham, Buckinghamshire, and appears to have originally enlisted into the Worcestershire Regiment.

He later volunteered for airborne forces and attended Parachute Training Course No 51 at RAF Ringway, which ran from 15 to 27 February 1943.

On completion of his training he was posted to the 8th (Midlands) Parachute Battalion and later parachuted into Normandy during Operation Overlord.

Private Platt died on 6 June 1944, aged 24 years old. He is now buried at Ranville War Cemetery, Normandy.
