Lance Sergeant Archibald Owen

Archibald Owen, son of Edward and Lucy Owen, of Toxteth Park, Liverpool, enlisted in The Loyal Regiment and volunteered for Airborne forces.

Lance Sergeant Owen successfully completed Glider training and was posted to Defence Platoon 1st (Airborne) Battalion the Border Regiment. He took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

L/Sgt Owen was killed in action on 24 September 1944, aged 35. He was originally given a field burial in the Hartenstein sports ground and was reinterred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 6 September 1945.
