Corporal Alfred J Brimicombe

Alfred James Brimicombe was born in Devon and lived in Exeter, he enlisted in the Devonshire Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.

Corporal Brimicombe successfully completed glider training and was posted to 12th (Airborne) Battalion, Devonshire Regiment and took part in operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).

Cpl Brimicombe was killed in action on 24 March 1945, aged 27, and was given a field burial at Hamminkeln and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery on 24 April 1947.
