Private Alfred H Cranswick

Alfred Henry Cranswick was the son of Harry and Ada Cranswick and the husband of Dorothy Cranswick. He enlisted in the Border Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.

Private Cranswick successfully completed his glider training, and was posted to B Company, 1st (Airborne) Battalion, The Border Regiment and took part in operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Pte Cranswick died of wounds in the St Antonius Hospital at Utrecht, aged 28, on 22 September 1944. He was laid to rest in the local Utrecht (Soestbergen) General Cemetery.
