Private Alfred Charles Noakes

Private Alfred Charles Noakes was the son of Alfred and Clara Noakes, of Willingdon, Sussex, and husband of Rosetta Noakes, also of Willingdon. He served with 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment and took part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden.

He died on 24 September 1944, aged 31 years old. He is now buried at Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Arnhem.
