Sergeant Alfred Bird

Sergeant Alfred Bird, son of Alfred and Kate Bird and husband of Mabel Eliza Audrey Bird, of Watford, Hertfordshire, served with HQ B Company 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment. He took part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden as Acting Company Quartermaster Sergeant.

Sergeant Bird died on 25 September 1944 aged 29 years old. He is now buried at Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Arnhem.
