Gunner Alexander V Baisden

Alexander Victor Baisden, son of Norman and Rebecca Baisden; husband of Eileen Baisden, of Hayes, Middlesex, enlisted in the Royal Artillery and then volunteered for airborne forces.

Gunner Baisden successfully completed his Glider training and was posted to 1 Airlanding Light Regiment, Royal Artillery, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Gnr Baisden was killed in action on 24 September 1944, aged 28, and was given a field burial in an isolated grave. He was reinterred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 8 August 1945.
