Lieutenant Alexander J Romanes

Alexander Jamieson Romanes, son of Alexander and Janet Romanes and husband of Daphne Romanes, of Forest Hill, London, commissioned in The Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) and volunteered for airborne forces.

Lieutenant Romanes successfully completed Glider training and was posted to 1st Airborne Division.

Lt Romanes took part in Operation Doomsday. He died on 13 August 1945, age 24, and is buried in Oslo Western Civil Cemetery.
