Corporal Alexander E Wright

Alexander Edward Wright was the son of Edward and Gladys Wright and the husband of Angela Wright, of Norwich. He enlisted in the Royal Norfolk Regiment, and volunteered for airborne forces.

Corporal Wright successfully completed his parachute training at RAF Ringway on course number 94/95, from 17 November to 3 December 1943, and was posted to A Company, 10th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment. He took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Cpl Wright was killed in action on 18 September 1944, age 21, and was given a field burial in the grounds of the Municipal Hospital at Arnhem and was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 1 November 1945.
