Rifleman Alewyn Griffiths

Alewyn Griffiths was the son of David John and Margretta (Hoskin) Griffiths, of Llanelly, Carmarthenshire; husband of Megan (Norman) Griffiths. He enlisted in the Royal Artillery and volunteered for airborne forces.

Rifleman Griffiths successfully completed glider training and was posted to 1st (Airborne) Battalion, Royal Ulster Rifles, and took part in Operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).

Rfn Griffiths was killed in action on 24 March 1945, aged 35, and was given a field burial at Hamminkeln, Germany, and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery on 24 March 1947.
