Alec joined the army (Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire regiment) as boy soldier in 1932/33. He left late 30s but rejoined on outbreak of war.

Volunteered for the airborne forces from The Middlesex Regiment.

Was taken on strength 15 March 1944 and was parachute jump trained at RAF Ringway on Course 111. He is listed on the AAC Transfer and Enlistment book number 18, page 88. 

"RQMS Taylor" dropped into France 6/7 September 1944 with Major Reynolds (nominal role of Op. Loyton)

Sergeant - 56 Training Regiment RAC

Acting Sgt Major - 6 Commando

RQMS -2SAS

Transferred to the Reserves 22 February 1946 and was reverted to the rank of Private.
