Gunner Albert Russell

Albert Russell enlisted in the Royal Pioneer Corps, and volunteered for airborne forces.

Gunner Russell successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway and was posted to 4 Airlanding Anti-Tank Battery, Royal Artillery, and took part in operation Overlord (Normandy).

Gnr Russell was killed in action on 7 August 1944, age 30, and was buried in Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France.
