Private Albert Ormerod

23 Sep 1944

Private Albert Ormerod, son of Emmanuel and Margaret Ormerod, of Blackburn, Lancashire, served with A Company, 10th Parachute Battalion. He took part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden.

He was originally declared Missing In Action, before the family received official confirmation in May 1946 that he was killed during the Battle.

Private Ormerod died on 23 September 1944, aged 23 years old. He is now commemorated on the Memorial at Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery, near Nijmegen.
