Lieutenant John D A Boustead

John Derek Atheling Bond was the son of Cedric and Joyce Boustead; husband of Lalage Nugent Boustead, of Bridport, Dorsetshire. He was commissioned into the Devonshire Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.

Lieutenant Boustead successfully completed glider training and was posted to 1st (Airborne) Battalion, Royal Ulster Rifles, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).

Lt Boustead was killed in action on 7 June 1944, aged 26, and was buried at Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France.
