Driver John W Walford

John Walter Walford was the husband of Elizabeth Walford, of Bow, London. He enlisted in Royal Army Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.

Driver Walford successfully completed glider training and was posted to HQ Platoon, 250 (Airborne) Light Composite Company, Royal Army Service Corps, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Dvr Walford was killed in action on 19 September 1944, aged 28, in the Oranjeweg area, near Hartenstein. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial to the Missing.
