The Airborne Alliance (ABA) was established to provide a single point of focus for serving and former members of British Airborne Forces in Scotland & Northern Ireland. Airborne Forces can be defined as those officers and soldiers who, as qualified military parachutists, are serving or have served in the Parachute Regiment, RAC parachute trained units or within the Combat Support or Combat Service Support elements (artillery, engineers, signals, intelligence, logistics and medical) of 16 Parachute Brigade, 6 Field Force, 5 Airborne Brigade and 16 Air Assault Brigade or their predecessor units since the Second World War.
Service with Special Forces is also a qualification for membership. The ABA is an alternative organisation to the Parachute Regimental Association (PRA), North Region for those branches, which have adopted a new constitution. The ABA constitution provides a number of benefits, principal amongst which is the ability of the ABA Executive Committee to make decisions about issues that affect our members. We govern ourselves. Whilst many of our current members are also members of the PRA there is no requirement for new members to join the PRA if they do not wish to do so. The ABA also welcomes wives and widows of qualified personnel as associate members. The Airborne Alliance is a registered charity in Scotland, number 045965.
