Major General Cubbon was my CO when I was with the 4/6 Battalion in Tidworth and Lubeck. As a private soldier I did not have many dealings with him, although he did ask me to start a school to help the less fortunate to read. His driver told me that one day he went to the Col & told him his car was outside."I know Meadows I can hear it knocking" was the reply.
