Airborne Forces Association of West Australia

The Airborne Forces Association of Western Australia (formerly the Pegasus Association) was founded in 1968. The Association’s focus has been, until recent years, primarily for the benefit of Ex Airborne Forces and related Regiments and Corps service members and veterans. The recent decline in Ex British Services Association’s in Western Australia due to dwindling member numbers and subsequent interest, resulted, in many instances, in dissolution and laying up of Regimental Colours and Standards. The Airborne Forces Association of WA recognised the need to provide a home for non-Airborne Ex British Service members/veterans and subsequently created a Friend Member category for those wishing to continue a social liaison with like-minded ex-military veterans.

Membership is therefore open in the following two categories:

  • Full Membership – For those veterans that completed the obligatory Airborne Training including ‘P’ Company and the Parachute Training course as well as serving with and alongside Airborne Forces.
  • Friend Membership – For those non- Airborne veterans wishing to continue a social environment with other likeminded ex-military veterans.

The Association exists for the purposes of:

  • Furthering the interests of Airborne Forces and those of other Regiments and Corp members past and present of any member country of the British Commonwealth and its allies.
  • To organise functions and activities (including a “Positive Ageing” programme) to enable members to continue associations formed during their service with other likeminded ex-military veterans.
  • To perform welfare and other benevolent work for members, their families and the families of deceased members in need or distress.

Member benefits include:

  • Monthly Association committee meetings from February to November conducted in a social setting and open to all members.
  • Monthly Association Newsletters.
  • Circulation and distribution of regular kindred group newsletters and military articles of interest.
  • Regular formal Parades and Church services including:
  • Anzac Day dawn service and veteran’s parade
  • Airborne Forces Day parade, church service and luncheon
  • Remembrance Day parade and church service
  • Positive Ageing Programme incorporating numerous social activities throughout the year.
  • Participation in numerous community-based events.
  • Access to Association merchandise.
