Sergeant Wyndham Stanley Jones ran the transport section of A Company 4 PARA.

Sgt ‘Stan’Jones died in a parachuting accident from a balloon at an RAF Open Day at Catterick in September 1979.

His son ‘Stan’ Jones Jnr also served in 4 PARA and was also jumping that day. Other members of Sgt Jones’ family were there for the open day.

Sgt Jones’ Mk 5 chute came away from him, the accident resulted in modified of locking pins.

‘Stan’ Jones Jnr was No1 in the stick when 4 PARA jumped using new pin system for the first time at their annual camp at Vogelzang.
