Private William G Golledge

26 Sep 1944

William George Golledge, son of Benjamin and Theresa Golledge; husband of Margaret Golledge, of Chard, Somerset, enlisted into the Somerset Light Infantry and then volunteered for airborne forces.

Private Golledge successfully completed his parachute training, and was posted to C Company, 156 Battalion, The Parachute Regiment. He took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Pte Golledge was killed in action on 26 March 1944, aged 27. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial.
